How to Find a Kitchen Cabinet Paint Color

The paint color you choose can say a lot about your kitchen. It is important to consider the current style of the room when you pick your color. If you are wanting something modern, shades of clean white, bold navy, and gray can be classic choices. If your style is more colorful and vibrant, various shades of blue and green can look absolutely lovely.

Cabinet & Kitchen Painting in Kenya

once you’ve decided on an interior style or design theme, it is time to compare and contrast the colors that you like. One way to do this is by adding a few different paint colors to a poster board, and placing it in your kitchen at different times of the day. This will allow you to see how each paint color looks in different lighting. Another way to see what a specific paint color will look like in your home is by scheduling a free color consultation with us. Our team can use our innovative color visualizer tool to accurately show you what a specific paint color will look like in your space.

Frequently asked questions

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY PAINTED KITCHEN CABINETS?

In order to get the most out of your painted kitchen cabinets (and interior painting in general), you must keep them clean and reduce the conditions inside your kitchen that might ruin your paint job, namely moisture, sunlight, and temperature fluctuations. Maintaining proper ventilation will reduce heat and humidity levels inside your kitchen, and blocking direct sunlight with curtains or shades will protect your cabinet paint from fading.

WHAT DOES THE CABINET PAINTING PROCESS ENTAIL?

A full kitchen cabinet painting job begins with the removal of doors, hinges, and other hardware — this is done both for efficiency and complete, accurate coverage. After the cabinets have been disassembled, the removed pieces are moved outdoors or to an appropriate facility to minimize mess and allow for more room in the kitchen itself. While a small team tackles the doors, another will work on the fixed portions of the cabinets. All surfaces must be properly prepared (i.e. cleaning, sanding, and priming) prior to painting. Painter’s tape and coverings (i.e. drop cloths and plastic sheets) are strategically placed in the kitchen to prevent paint from ending up on walls, countertops, and/or floors. Paint can be applied via spraying, rolling, or brushing depending on the situation. After the necessary number of coats have been applied and left to dry completely, new or existing hardware is reattached and the cabinets are put back together.

Is It Best to Hire a Professional or Do It Yourself?

There are undoubtedly some advantages to DIY projects, such as cutting costs and feeling a sense of accomplishment when all is said and done. That said, if you lack the proper experience, tools, and resources for kitchen cabinet painting, you may end up spending more time and money than you would have if you’d hired professional home interior painters instead. Indeed, going with the pros will likely provide better-looking and longer-lasting outcomes. Moreover, experienced painters can help you with other interior painting renovations and answer additional questions you have during the job. There’s no right answer to this question, but most people will be glad they hired professionals rather than attempted this tricky project themselves.
